2007 Lucky Ed & Split 13

Split 13 was one of the most elusive deer on the property. We had seen it on cameras - although mainly at night. During the previous 2 hunts (a total of 6 days) we had only seen Split 13 twice - both early in the morning and it did not present any shots. Then came "Lucky Ed". We were sitting in the Front stand starting at about 1:30 in the afternoon - just to get settled in and get there before the deer started moving (normally right before dark - about 4:00 or so). At 3:00 a couple of does came out. 15 minutes later another doe appeared with Split 13 right behind her. Leary, Split 13 made only a short appearance in the field, started to head out but presented a shot - which Lucky Eddy made - and the rest was history. Not only did it have split G2's, but one of the brow tines was split and it had a kicker point off the other brow tine. The buck had mass, length, symmetry - a great trophy!
