Named for its symmetrical splits on it's G2's. This buck actually had 14 scoreable points. Ed shot it with a 44mag Carbine rifle at about 70 yards. Field dressed it weighed about 175 pounds.
Named because of it's excellent mass. It is the largest scoring 8 pointer we have ever had shot on the preserve. Field dressed at 210 pounds. Congratulations Boris!
This is an excellent example of how the hunter gets to choose the deer they like. Tom saw this deer on the first morning of our hunt. Got to see several other nice bucks that morning and evening, and then got a shot at this buck the next morning (one he had dreamed about all night). Field dressed at 215 pounds.
Named because it had small (non-scoreable) points (knobs) growing from several tines. One noticeable feature of Knobby 9 was his tremendous mass in his tines. Although this does not add to the overall score of the rack - it certain makes for an impressive animal.
One of the older deer on the preserve, this deer has a feature called "Palmation". That is, it's main beam flattens out and gets very wide - the tines come off this wide beam are like the fingers coming off the "Palm" of your hand.
This is a typical 3&1/2 or year old on the Deerbrook Game Preserve. It had an exceptionally heavy body with a dressed weight well over 200 pound (which we could attest too after dragging it out.
Note: Had a couple of great hunts in 2005 including a late season January hunt in 2006.
Mike's "Groovy
13"
147 & 2/8 Gross B&C
Named because it had several grooves in the main beam - in fact the tines on the right antler looked like a second main beam was growing inside the regular beam - separated only by a groove.
Boris & "Typical 10"
119 & 1/8 Gross B&C
Tim & Ryan & "Head Junk 13"
Approx 142 Gross B&C
"Head Junk" is not bad when it comes to points on a buck. On this hunt in early December, Ryan harvested a nice doe and his dad Tim took this unbelievable 13 pointer. The beams and points actually fully connected across the skull cap - very cool!
2004 Scores
Note: For 2004 we gave the preserve a rest and had only doe and management hunts - should make 2005 a great year!
** We are not official B&C scorers. Some errors may have occurred in scoring - although none are intentional **
